We wanted to conclude our National Apprenticeship Week, spotlight series by shining some light on our Plumbing Apprentice James.
To let you get to know James and his apprenticeship experience, we asked him a few questions...
Tell us about you and your apprenticeship?
I’m James, a Plumbing Apprentice at Harvey Group. My plumbing apprenticeship has allowed me to learn and expand my knowledge of plumbing systems in both residential and commercial projects. Learning on-site has been an eye opening experience, and has allowed me to work and learn alongside masters at their trades.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
Because why not! An apprenticeship opens so many doors and provides an abundance of opportunities; Like travelling abroad for work. Overall, my apprenticeship has provided me with the understanding of basic machinery along with life skills and lessons that I can use to progress in my career.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
The bit about my apprenticeship I enjoy the most is that it gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day. I can honestly say that I enjoy the experience provided by my plumbing apprenticeship; from the knowledge that you take in on site to the people that you meet and work with.
Do you have any advice for anyone out there considering an apprenticeship?
I would advise anyone that if the opportunity of an apprentice comes your way, take it! There is very few progressive opportunities out there that can give you the learning skills and experiences daily to keep you engaged and enjoying what you do!
