Harvey Group PLC have been engaged by McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd to Design and Install the Mechanical & Electrical Building services at Jewish Care’s new Stanmore Care Campus.
The new £47million facility will be built on the site of the existing Princess Alexandra Home. The current 45 bed home provides its residents with the highest levels of care and an extensive day programme of activities, all set in the surroundings of 16.5 acres of landscaped grounds.
When Jewish Care purchased the home in 2000 it was with the knowledge that it would require redevelopment and that the 16.5 acre site had huge potential to create something special. Planning permission was granted in late 2015 and following a successful fundraising campaign contractors have now been appointed to work on the redevelopment of the Care Home into a unique modern care community providing a range of facilities.
The new development will comprise: a 64-bedroom dementia care nursing home divided into 4 clusters of 16 rooms; 16 independent living suites; 48 independent living 1 and 2 bedroom flats; shared dining and social facilities and a day centre.
At the heart of the new development will be a clubhouse space with restaurant, café and wellbeing facilities.
The works will be carried out in 2 phases. Phase 1 will see the new home being built alongside the current care home. Once residents have moved into their new home the exisi5ting dwelling will be demolished and the second phase of the construction – the independent living and communal facilities will be constructed bringing the total number of rooms to 128 within the new care facility.
The project is in the pre-construction stages and M&E works are expected to start on site at the end of this year with completion due by Summer 2020.
