This new £11-million-pound teaching block provides facilities for 4,300 students within University of Ulster’s Magee Campus located in Derry/Londonderry.
This new 4 storey building provides an additional 4000 sq. meters of space on campus and includes three lecture theatres, 20 classrooms, student hubs and a café.
Harvey Group were responsible for the mechanical and electrical building services installation, which compromise, energy efficient LED lighting complete with daylight dimming PIR’s, a fire alarm installation which involved VESDA system and gas suppression and 20KWP of Photovoltaic panels.
Other M&E features includes: Natural ventilation/window actuators, automatic washroom controls and Underfloor heating, all of which, significantly contributed towards the building achieving a BREEAM rating of “Excellent”.
The project was successfully completed on time, within budget and to a first-class finish with handover achieved on the 30th November 2017. Ulster University opened the new teaching block at the end of January 2018.
